Thanks for being a part of our year!

Another year for the books, as they say! From start to finish, 2023 has been an exciting year for MenAlive and we want to share some highlights of the year.

Our season with Rhinestone Cowboys: Boots, Hats, and Sass when we listened in awe during The Devil Went Down to Georgia featuring Karin Dell and Reid Blackmore Noble on the fiddle and guitar!

Summer came to life with Big Gay Broadway, followed by our first-ever Halloween and Día de Muertos themed production, Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun! We were delighted that the Orange County Women’s Chorus put us all under their spell for Ghouls! Members enjoyed creating their unique costumes and what a beautiful honor to build our very own ofrenda. We closed out the season with Merry and Bright: Slay Ride.

Off the stage, MenAlive members participated in a weekend-long retreat that included numerous team-building and outdoor activities. Camp Stevens allowed members to get to know each other outside the rehearsal hall.

We can’t forget performing at Segerstrom Concert Hall for the swearing-in of Orange County’s Fifth District Supervisor Katrina Foley. We represented Pride Night on the ice for the Anaheim Ducks and the soccer field for the OC Soccer Club to perform the National Anthem for roaring crowds!

Our successful fundraisers for the year included our first-ever Country Fair and Bingo Pancake Breakfast. At our annual gala, Harmony, we were proud to award U.S. Representative Katie Porter and former MenAlive Artistic Director Bob Gunn the Rich Cook Community Bridge Award. This award is presented at the gala to a member of the chorus, community, and beyond, showing their support for MenAlive and/or the LGBTQIA+ community.

MenAlive in the community didn’t stop there. MenAlive opened the OneOC banquet honoring outstanding volunteers in Orange County along with providing the music for the Irvine Pride Flag raising, the LGBTQ Center’s Youth Convening, and the OC VisionWalk. On top of all that, MenAlive entertained at an assisted living facility in San Clemente and performed for CoreLogic’s global PRIDE event. MenAlive participated in other events, including OC Aids Walk, OC Pride, and Long Beach Pride.

This coming year will bring even more excitement for MenAlive! Mark your calendars for our first-ever Iconic Drag Bingo in February. Three fantastic concerts, including Iconic in April, And the Winner Is… Not! in July, and Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun 2 in October. New for 2024, our annual gala Harmony, will be held at the Anaheim Hilton in May.

We hope to see you in the new year as well. Thank you for supporting MenAlive throughout 2023. Here’s to new goals and a new chapter.
