6/30/18- MenAlive - Orange County Gay Men’s Chorus Announces Cast of Upcoming Orange County Premiere of Andrew Lippa’s I AM HARVEY MILK Presented as part of Season Finalé Concert HEROES
MenAlive, the Orange County Gay Men's Chorus, under the direction of Artistic Director Bob Gunn, proudly announces the final cast selection of their upcoming Orange County Premiere production of Andrew Lippa's groundbreaking oratorio I AM HARVEY MILK. The cast joining the chorus on stage for I AM HARVEY MILK will be Tenor Stephen Brothwell as Harvey Milk, Boy Soprano Colin Eaton as Young Harvey Milk, and Soprano Brooke Aston as Harvey Milk's mother. I AM HARVEY MILK-featuring words and music by Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa(The Wild Party, The Addams Family, Big Fish) and orchestrations by August Eriksmoen-is an hour-long original musical that chronicles the life of LGBTQ Icon Harvey Milk, who was a tenacious gay rights activist and was the first openly-gay elected official in the history of California. He last served in the San Francisco Board of Supervisors before his tragic assassination in 1978.
9/8/17- OCGMC Launches Logo Refresh in Advance of its 2017-18 Season
MenAlive, OC Gay Men's Chorus is unveiling a refreshed brand identity that will be implemented across all of MenAlive's channels and portals over the next few weeks. A blend of the fmiliar and the modern, the new logo design is one of the many initiatives in OCGMC's exciting next phase as we continue as a noted, well-respected non-profit arts organization in Southern California.
4/12/16- Yost Theatre glitters with MenAlive's 2016 Gala April 29
MenAlive presents its GALA 2016 cabaret show All That Glitters at The 1912, the new showroom at the Yost Theatre complex, Friday, April 29 in Downtown Santa Ana’s Art District. Hosted by TV star Scott Nevins, the event will feature music by MenAlive, a silent auction, and the presentation of the 2016 Rich Cook Bridge Award.
3/1/16- MenAlive presents "We Are Family" April 1-2 at the Irvine Barclay
“We Are Family is the perfect theme for what will be our most personal concert ever,” says Robb Neale, Creative Director of MenAlive, Orange County Gay Men’s Chorus. Throughout the concert, individual chorus members will share stories such as the one below about meeting their future husbands, coming out, personal losses and triumphs and more. One of the evenings highlights will be a musical version of Armistead Maupin’s touching letter from Tales from the City in which a young man comes out to his parents after learning they have joined an anti-gay group. The music is moving and will want to make you get up and dance.
5/1/15- MenAlive presents "The One" June 26-27 at the Irvine Barclay
When MenAlive takes the stage at the Irvine Barclay Theater to perform the music of Elton John, it will be more than another outstanding concert. It’s a way for the renowned choral group to say “thank you” to its own diva, The One who inspired so many of its members by validating the LGBTD community and opening the door to acceptance and understanding.
5/15/15- 2015 Recipient of the Rich Cook Community Bridge Award Named
The award, named after the group’s founder and former Artistic Director, is presented to community leaders who have built cultural and societal bridges between the LGBT community and the general public.
2/15/15- MenAlive says 'Thank you' to our favorite divas in 'She Got The Beat'
MenAlive’s “She Got the Beat” concert in March will honor rock divas, including Aretha, Beyoncé, Cher, Katy, Lady Gaga and P!nk, who have gone out of their way to promote gay acceptance.
11/1/14 - MenAlive warms up the holidays with Jolly Holly Follies
Set the channel, adjust the rabbit-ear antenna, then sit back and get comfy as MenAlive takes you on a lovingly retro trip to the 50’s for an update on old-fashioned TV holiday musical celebrations with special guest host Momma, co-founder of The Fruit Cake Follies, a staple of gay Hollywood holidays.
8/1/14 -MenAlive's 2014-15 Season show's "a new attitude!"
MenAlive's 2014-2015 season is an all new slate of concerts honoring fabulous divas and feel-good holiday favorites. The new attitude comes from adding fresh and contemporary numbers to MenAlive's repertoire.
3/19/14 - MenAlive announces new Artistic Director for 2014-15 Season
MenAlive, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Orange County announced the selection of their next artistic director beginning with the 2014-2015 season. Current Assistant Artistic Director, Bob Gunn has been named Artistic Director of MenAlive to lead the group into its next phase of development.
3/2/14 - The Center OC to honor Rich Cook
Rich Cook, long-time LGBT rights activist and founder of MenAlive, Orange County Gay Men’s Chorus, will be honored for his many contributions to the LGBT community by The Center OC, an LGBT advocacy organization. He will receive a Torchbearer Award at The Center’s Indigo Ball on April 26, 2014.
3/1/14 - MenAlive brings The Beatles hits to The Irvine Barclay
It was 50 years ago today that The Beatles hit the USA. MenAlive's 120-man chorus pays tribute to The Beatles timeless songbook at The Barclay for two hard days' nights, March 28th and 29th.
11/19/13 - It's time for a Snowy White Christmas with MenAlive.
Snowy White and MenAlive will be joined onstage by dancing dwarfs, playful forest creatures, and Snowy White's son, Snowy for a whimsical and magical holiday show December 6th and 7th.
